What is IA? If its anything infantry related you'll have the 82nd Airborne guys teaching you. Have fun.

    IA is individual augmentee.

anyone who is an e3-o6 can do it. they are trained by the army before they go to combat in afghanistan, iraq, or wherever they need people. i make e3 next year and i plan on doing it. by then we should be in korea.

Do you have access to Navy Knowledge Online?

All of the information you will need as an IA is on the site.

I will say that if you get Bahrain, consider yourself lucky. Everyone tries to get Bahrain because it's the most comfortable and furthest away from actual combat.

As a career counselor, I recommend anyone interested to get it out of the way early in their career. Sacrifice a bit of your comfort zone for increased opportunities for advancement, recognition and possibly choice orders once you are done with your IA assignment.

LOL, no you don't have to basic all over again, Army style....you'll just going to get training on how to conduct certain ops/patrols most likely.

I believe you get a 2 week crash course.

Do yourself a favor and check out the IA Pre-Deployment information available on NKO.

I was close, but they sent me to school instead. If I was going to stay in I would try again.

i got word that 6 people from my base (not including me fortunately - i'm not eligible w00t!) got picked up for IA to iraq and they are required to have 6 weeks "crash course" combat and crap like that, then to iraq for a year (maybe).
