Long time no see guys :mamoru:

Well I'm more or less officially not married anymore :hs: And I've decided time for some changes. Goen in for Lasik on the 22nd to have my eyes done ($3150 at www.lasikmd.com) in vancouver and now I recieved a email from the local Fire Department wanting me to come in a week later to discuss me joining.

Now I'm kinda on the fence because I'm actually seriously considering going to school and joining the Army reserves as an Infantry officer since well my marriage is done for so nothing to lose. But it might mean putting my hopes for the fire department on hold. :noes:

    Thoughts?

don't limit yourself. get the lasik, go to the fire department interview, give it all you have, and don't give them any reason not to want you. and work on getting into the infantry as an officer.

Never put all your hopes on one dream.

Thing is I've gone through the combat challenge, physical, interview, sit downs with the Firefighters and they past me on for others who had training.

Now I've spent $6500 this year alone on courses and so I may practically be a shoe in to get in this time. :noes:

Go to school, commission into the National Guard as an infantry officer and do the fire department job as your full time job. Maybe you can work for them part time while in school.

In anycase this is for volunteer firefighting. Saves me $13k in training if I go this route and get them to pay for my NFPA 1001 / 1002. Do it for 5 years than move onto a full-time position.

same thing applies though. we have the reserves instead of the national guard. he could do that. except I haven't been on this board in like two years and back then he was still "just about" to do something with his life.
