    sometimes i feel this way.

in fact, i think i'd feel content if i lived in a small cabin in the mountains for the rest of my life.

Its normal that you want to escape from your problems instead of confronting them.

Stop running, and face your problems. They arent nearly as hard when you're fighting them as when you're running from them.

I get this feeling frequently. Usually when others in my life are too much for me to handle. The cabin, that's another fantasy. Only, it's usually an apartment or condo by the beach.

I used to do that 2 summers ago, get into my car, after 6 PM, drive into the country, and watch the sunset.

Too bad gas is too expensive now, and my car is in storage

:werd: Last weekend, my cousin and I took our uncle's car, just put the top down, blasted the music and drove down the streets. But, we couldn't go that far, with gas prices it's too expensive nowadays to just take a drive down the block! :squint:

If I feel like this sometimes and have no gas, I will push the car to get away.

I do that probably once a month on a saturday night to relax. I drive with my sister and we talk about anything. With music and someone to talk to, it's really relaxing. I usually drive around my city for about an hour or so with no destination in mind. Sometimes I drive out of town for the hell of it.

I once drove for 18 hours to get away.

But as DE says, you need to face the problems and resolve them. Sadly problems will always follow you.

I do this from time to time, just get in my car and drive...like someone else said, its almost like a therapy. There's something different about being in my car driving rather than sitting in my room thinking about things.

Ask anyone with teenagers in the house and they will tell you that this happens about every 30 minutes :mamoru:.

Seriously though... haven't we all at least once?

the only time I can stop obsessing over my turbo build, women, work, money, or whatever stress I have that keeps me up at night is when I drop $200 and take my miata to the racetrack and embarass the $45k cars. I know that's a different concept from this thread, but somehow related. My cars have always been a major part of my life and or personality.

I used to do this all the time. Especially after I got the wrangler. I haven't recently since the wrangler is torn apart (to the frame) and the XJ is getting shitty mileage.

I also like to just go sit outside, turn off the phone and smoke a cigar. Gives you an hour or so just to sit there and work shit out.
I keep meaning to find a nice quiet place in the woods to go to

There's a local group of Ford Focus owners that have get-togethers occasionally. I had a huge test on a Wednesday and the meet was the Sunday before the test so I said fuck it and went. I've got an SVT so it handles like a dream, and a bunch of us pushed the cars to their limits on twisty back roads out in the country. It was such an awesome stress reliever.
