I deprimed one of my spent shells and I found that a .22LR will fit perfectly into the hole where the primer was. Question is, has anyone tried this before?

probably won't work since a .22lr shell is a rim fire and wouldn't be detonated by being struck in the center.

  5. Even if you could ignite it, it would have almost no power and be totally inaccurate.

I'm pretty sure that comes from the big book of bad ideas.

Sounds like a great way to send a .22 bullet bouncing around your barrel

If you've got a junk gun you don't want anymore, it can't hurt to try...

Or it could hurt and you'd have one hell of a thread to post...

    Either way = teh win.

Yes, just the other day I was wondering "how can I ruin my shotgun barrel and send a round cartwheeling through it?"

Make sure to look through the front end of the barrel as it's coming out, you know, to make sure it's not bouncing around in there or something.

Pick up an ultra-super-duper-crazy-full turkey ckoke so it'll shoot nice tight groups. You know, like 2 foot groups @ 10 yards.

it will pop the case open...the case has to be supported for the pressure to move the lead object (bullet)

otherwise its physics, the case will split

  17. I'd figure it's more likely to simply dislodge the projectile that's only weakly held in the first place rather than tear the metal of the case open.

In the instance of the case being held in place yes.

If you are able to get a 22 rimfire to go off by throwing it on the ground or something to that effect, the casing will become the projectile due to the lead bullet being heavier
