Since the jeeps use the same motors as the dodge trucks, (318, 360) and the truck uses a cummings inline 6.. do you think it would be easy to swap in a cummings motor into a jeep? prolly have to just use the truck motor mounts and tranny mount? anyone seen it done before?

negatory. someone over is europe posted his diesel grand cherokee.

i get what you're saying. but it's also pretty easy for chrysler to just mount different brackets on the truck frame for the diesel eninges. if it's that easy...i whould think that more of these guys that do rockcrawing whould have done the swap already. :dunno:

but anything is possible if you got the time and money

No the 5.9 inline 6 Cummins would be terrible for a rock crawling motor, at least in a small SWB Jeep. First off the wieght of it is almost double the stock Jeep I6. I know since I parted out my Cummins ram and had to pull that heavy ass thing and ship it. So not only would it be a pig since all teh extra weight from the motor but then you have to add a pig of a trans to hold up to it too. So weight balance would be stupid too.

Second its huge in size. It too big length wise to fit in a CJ/wrangler without moving the firewall back and or moving the grille forward. Plus then you have to modify the hood and fenders to make it look right. I know since I measured myself when I had the motor out and I have a Jeep wrangler that was sittig next to it.

That would be damn near impossible. this is the worst thread ever. A cummins would tear a poor jeep to bits and pieces...
