    Master Lenny Strzeleck

I called and spoke to his wife she said hes been teaching for 30 odd years so I figured maybe someone has heard of him.

said he had schools in wisconsin and a few other places but mainly in texas.

    To answer your question, no.

You will probably get the same answer out of most people here.

My several years of TKD are useful to me. I just make sure to keep a 3-5 foot distance from everyone.

His early performances impressed a lot of people, so he got put up against fighters that were too experienced for him, like Caol Uno and Masato. Pretty unfortunate for him.

I love Tae Kwon Do. But going to a TKD school when you want to learn BJJ is like going to Taco Bell when you want Outback. Not even remotely the same thing.

I just want a excercise that isn't boring as running.

Im gunna check out Tae Kwon Do, Im going to check out a local school tomarrow. 60 bucks a month up to 5 classes a week if I want to go that many times.

    all the instructors are certified.

If it isnt for me or decide to fight after awihle I can switch to BJJ and drive the 40 miles one way to that school posted. I can't see how any martial art experiance can be a bad thing for fighters.

This girl im talking to took 4 hours of TKD every week for 5 years and she says she loved it.

So im going to try it out.

and I based that BJJ comment off what seems popular in fighting, I have no desire to fight so it was stupid for me to pick a techniqe when I don't know shit about any of them anyways.

depends on the school man. Ive seen alot of the tkd guys that do real good in mt competitions. the problem with them in the us is that most of the schools are watered down pieces of crap. If you can find a decent school though you will learn good shit. There was a guy down the street from my house named master young who was a korean dude. He was pretty freaking good and all of his students were also pretty good.

I think that the main problem though is the same thing that is currently happening with judo. The martial art here in the U.S. has a greater emphasis on the sports application then the actual combat application so it ends up being shitty

Im inclined to believe you here. If you go overseas to Korea I would be willing to bet that you will have a much different experience. There was a kid who came a while back to the gym I was at and I will be the first to say that my standup isnt the greatest but I can handle myself ok. This guy had come in after taking years of TKD and I schooled him pretty good. After that he opened up a little bit more about instead of having an elitist attitude. He also stated that the instructors kicks (the guy is only like 160 lbs and this guy was probably 200) were harder than any kicks he had faced in all of his years to TKD.

yeah i think its mostly because they train for sport not combat so all of their kicks are weak because your not trying to hurt the person. I have a freind who is the referee for bodog and he also refs for the UFC. Before UFC1 he was all up in the tkd he had his black belt opened his own school and everything then he got into a street fight and was using the shit and it wasnt working because you fight how you train.

these tkd guys here in the use dont train to hit with power just tap and recoil fast. So there technique is all about speed not power. When you take that to the street or even to the cage your fucked because your kicks are useless. Ive sparred with some tkd guys down here and their round houses didnt have shit behind them.

On the other hand their is one kick in tkd I will always respect because I got knocked the fuck out by it. The spinning hook kick.

I cant remember his name but there was a guy that was posted just a bit ago that had some sort of TKD background (I think) that was nasty at the Brazilian kick.
