    I've been back in the gym about 5 months. I've been lifting heavy, eating heavy, and I've made some good gains.

    I've gone from 146 to 171 at 5'9 since starting my bulk at the end of october. My numbers are halfway decent but not that impressive - bench 5RM is 190 and squat 5RM is 245. I'm starting deads again next week since I've been a pussy since the beginning of the semester. Diet is about 3500 clean calories a day and around 200g's protein.

    When I look at myself I definately look quite a bit thicker but I'm not happy with how I look. Sometimes I just get discouraged.

    I also guess I shouldn't expect an overnight transformation :hs: I guess all there is to do is train heavy, eat heavy, and repeat.

    It was just one of those days, I know we all get them :hs:

    :werd: I started working out (well, with a good routine anyway), two months ago. Increased bench from 135 --> 185
    squat from 135 --> 205
    deadlift from 135-->205

    Really good gains from such a short training period i think. If you're not happy with how things are going, try a different routine for a couple of months, it'll never hurt, and you should change things up everyonce in awhile.

    Maybe I'll try and hit 190.

    I am discouraged every day. Lifting has never done anything good for me, and made me a much more self-concious person :ugh:

    I only get discouraged when I get injured because that sets me back and keeps me from making progress in whatever area.

    On the other hand it gives me the chance to focus on something else.

    I get discouraged when I hit a wall on trying to increase the weight. It sometimes causes me to stop working out all together.

    Every time I put on a large t-shirt, and its not tight I don't get discouraged, I get more motivated. I've never been like this with anything in my life. For the first time in my life, when i feel discouraged about something, I'm more motivated to do something about it than be pissed off about it. I don't know why it inspires so much positive energy.
