I hve friends that have bought macbooks refurbished, and they say they are the same as buying them new... no problems at all...

I would expect the same quality with iPods...

My iMac was a refurb. Just like brand new, but cheaper. I love refurb stuff. Why pay full retail when you can get the same stuff cheaper??

Agreed. If you can find something refurbed for cheaper, then get it. It's just as good as brand new. You still get the 1 year warranty standard and you can still get Apple Care on them.

I think the only difference between the refurb and a brand new one is the refurb comes in a plain brown cardboard box. Other than that, they're the same.

:dunno: My refurb iMac came in a brown box. Guess it all depends what all Apple gets back in the return.

Most of the time, the outer shell of the ipod is new. Its just the inner workings which they 'refresh'.

Have they designed the new iPods so that the battery can be replaced or do you still have to send the whole thing back to Apple?

you send it in...or you can replace it yourself, but you have to be pretty careful if your worried about scratching things

Mr parents got a Mac Mini, it came brand new, even had a brand new Apple Remote sealed.

I got a Macbook pro refurb, small .5 cm scratch on the top and thats it. They both came in bown boxes.

I think the refurb products you buy in the store come in the oringal boxes, and the ones you get online are from brown boxes.

My dad got his iMac from online, and it was original box, so I assume it just depends. It came with a brand new keyboard, mouse, remote and everything else, but the system itself was refurbed
