there's word here that travis might be on it, but I can't see them closing this place... the strategic value of the base (the only west coast heavy transport base-other than mcchord, now that i think about it) should mean we're safe tomorrow.

I was just looking for info on the closings. Worried about Ft. Stewart, GA (home of the 3rd ID).

The people that live in Augusta dont know just how much of an impact that base has.....

Fort Gordon has a very big impact on Augusta and if it does close it ill not be good..... :wtc:

It's all a part of the down-sizing of the military. Eventually they (the government) wants it to be a smaller, more elite force. I commonly refer to it as doing more with less. :hsd:

I was surprised too. But the press releases mostly say that this BRAC was more of a realignment than a downsizing.

Canadian Forces have slimmed down, now we're trying to buy our hardware.

As much as I love to say this the liberals are fucked and if they are fucked 12.8 billion dollars ONTOP of the 13 billion we have will be thrown out the window because of new government if Tories or Conversvatives come to power.

 They fucken should do better or I'll rape and pillage those fuckers if they throw that cash out.

:werd: These base closures are nothing more than a way to finance these new unproven weapons :dunno:

Perhaps the bases are seen as uneeded or as not being cost-effective.

it's not a smaller elite force... it's a centralized elite force. it's a lot easier to mobilize troops from one concentrated area than it is to mobilize from a ton of scattered ones.
