I did a lot of when when I was training for boxing, and its probably my favorite type of cardio. It's really nice because you can do it so many different ways which makes it less boring because you can entertain yourself by switching up different styles, speed, play around with footwork, etc. A good speed rope is like $3, and its real nice when doing HIIT also.

Someone should reccomend a good rope for me. I've just been using a broken 10 foot guitar cable. Hell if you can post a link for a good $3 rope, I'll buy it right now.

I never use treadmills or any equipment that has the capabilites of counting calories so it doesn't affect me. I can't see them being very accurate anyway.

I wish there was room at my school gym to jump rope.

I have one that I usually use at home.

I've been using one at the gym that has really heavy handles with a very thick leather rope and it's awesome. I feel like my shoulders die in 5 minutes but I try to do it for around 20 minutes or so.

Can jump roping be a good substitute for other cardio like treadmills, bikes, etc?

Speed ropes > all other ropes.

Weighted ropes are especially bad. Great for strength building and endurance, but really messes up your joints with prolonged use.

I should jump rope on the days I don't run. I have a good one just sitting in my closet and I never use it. I'm pretty good too.
