    Some form of Malware.

You can't delete the DLLs because Windows is using them. No spyware scanners get rid of it. It changes its filename(s) every 20 minutes and it makes explorer.exe crash every half hour or so, fucks up my taskbar and sometimes Windows 2000 doesn't let me log on. Plus there are only very sketchy ways of fixing this, most of which include editing the registry. Yay.

Spybot S&D an adaware will remove it. Update definitions, boot into safe mode, and run. Or, use microsoft anti-spyware beta (my new fav program, it catches a lot of stuff the others dont)

Safe mode didn't work? Was it the same error?

Yeah. I ran Spybot and that deleted the errors it found (I don't think it picked up VX2) and the AdAware said "Allow AdAware to run and delete files at next reboot?", the same message I always got. But it didn't do jack. The symptoms seemed to have slowed down though except weird pop-ups popping up every now and then. Since this is relatively new I am going to have to wait for a proper fix. I am alright now for a while. The PC itself is fine.

I just got rid of it. Run Microsoft Anti-SPyware or whatever.

google an application called winsockfix and run that

Also get lspfix or something. look for that.

    Get Hijack this as well

run these things in safe mode or whatever mode allows for the installation and run of the Microsoft Anti-Spyware beta

It catches other things that aren't malware or spyware. (ex. Firefox) Ad-Aware has a special VX2 cleaner that deletes it. I hear the new MS cleaner uses the same definiton files as Spybot S&D.
