    Jesus Christ.

I'm a college student, not living with my parents. I still keep in touch with them and they're nice enough to check in with me and vice versa, obviously. They still take an avid interest in what's new with me, and they know that I'm very into lifting/fitness/etc.

My mom was talking to me about it tonight on the phone, and she was asking me about the size I'd gained. When I told her I'd put on about 18 pounds since September she figured I'd be fat. (She hasn't seen me since October, and when she did it was for like a day and I had a sweatshirt on). She was saying that I shouldnt be intentionally putting on weight and blah blah blah, that I should be trying to stay lean (which I still am, for the most part). When I told her that you have to eat a ton to make actual size gains and not just lift, she just responded with "Well, I don't know about that" :hsugh:

My parents also think creatine is some sort of anabolic steroid :mamoru:

My mom when I come home

"Wow, you look great! I can really see you're working out"

    My mom at dinnertime

"You look like you need to eat more vegetables. I'm sure you had meat yesterday, so I made you some dinner without meat."

think of it this way, we were all clueless even when we first started lifting (and we still are to some extent). Think of all the trial/error and research done for the little lifting/diet knowledge you have right now. How do you expect your parents who probably have long hours at work to understand something like that?

If gaining weight really upsets your mother, then just don't speak about it with her on the phone. Problem solved.

She wasn't upset, but she couldn't for the life of her understand why I'd want to pile on weight while she struggles to keep it off.
