I went to the gym tonight, but had to move boxes around at work (70+lbs boxes of computer servers)

i didn't hit my usual numbers and i felt tired my whole workout :(

i usually try to as much as possible avoid all types of physical activity during gym days- do you?

I hate it after the gym, i got called in for work (i do grocery store checkouts while im at university) and my arms were getting quite sore, as they hadn't recovered from the gym, i was hoping it isn't hurting my gains :hs:

well i don't see that being a big deal...
the only problem i have is after back days all the pulling messes up my forearms so bad, that even if i carry a bag of groceries my forearms have these crazy cramps and i have to let go...

I play ice hockey, take my dog running, detail cars on the weekends and help my dad with his 'fun' job flipping houses... Which means general home construction...

So no. I mean what's the point of building all this strength if you can't actually use it...

That's like putting a turbo charger on your car, but being scared to hit the rev limiter...

it's usually the day after legs. When i'm helping out at my uncles store.. i try to avoid bending all the way down or else it feels like my legs are being ripped apart. :wtc:

i try to remain as sedentary as possible :hs:

recently i've had to move hundreds of pounds of water up/down stairs in 2 buckets (about 40lbs each) at a time... tires me out :(

depends on what it is... if it's moving furniture, i'd try to wait. but if it's like bringing the groceries in, whatever. lifting isn't about numbers for me anymore, i just like the activity in general and the way i feel afterwards :wiggle:

so a little extra activity that might detract from being able to lift the most isn't such a big deal; just gotta tear up the muscle any way i can

no. I try not to let the gym rule my life, so I adjust my workout to my daily activities, not the other way around

Numbers are in your head, not you muscles. unless you're training for a meet, don't worry about numbers so much as overall quality of workout. If you need to drop your numbers for a good workout, then do it.

I've dipped out on the gym for a few days to help buddies move. I don't want to be carrying couches and shit while I'm already hurting.

I won't even mow my own yard. I won't help anybody move. I won't go bowling, play softball, football or anything. The only thing I will do is take the dog for a walk every now and then IF it's not hot outside!!

Unless you're really moving big weight, doing a little physical work shouldn't throw you off that much. You may want to raise your work capacity.
