    I am.

If i skip a day without it i panic, i have so many friends online and relate to them more than my real life friends. I'm online for like 6 hours a day during the weekend and 2 during the weekdays.

I'm curious if anyone else is this way

When I carried a beeper I panicked when I left the house and forgot it. I remember feeling very naked without it. But guess what....that's just an adjustment feeling. It doesn't mean anything is wrong it just means you're adjusting to doing things differently.

So many people feel that adjustment feeling and think, "OH SHIT!!! I need to fix this." and they go back to whatever it was they were trying to quit. Give it time....don't go back. Just find other things to keep you busy and before you know it you'll be much less "addicted" to the interwebz.

tv sucks anyways. It's all about balancing yourself out with what you do.
Leads to a much more interesting life.

Most of the people on Offtopic are heavy-very heavy internet users.

    Yeah, it kinda sucks.

I think back to like 98 and prior before I even know what the internet was and I feel kinda :hs:

I'm glad I didn't have this shit back in high school. (Graduated in 98). It's not like I turn stuff down to go on the internet because I don't really do much but I think I don't really do much because I'm on the net too much! If that makes any sense. :o

It's a blessing at work though.

You know it's addiction when friends ask you to go see a movie but you turn them down cause you'd rather stay online

I had a problem back in the 90s. The local number for the ISP went down, so I used a working long distance number. I ran up a $250 phone bill with long distance charges from being on the internet, mostly chatting on IRC.

How old are you? Do you have a job? If you don't, get one. It'll give you all the interaction you can stand to have.

Other than that, all I can say is I used to visit my grandparents in the summer (upstate NY), and they didn't have internet, and I spent my time enjoying the quiet in my mind. You don't notice the buzz until it's gone, but if you can get past being afraid of the quiet, you'll find it's very relaxing.

Ah, that awkward time between being old enough to work and drive, and being young enough to play outside.

Well, you've got a couple of options. Get a different hobby, preferably one involving people, or keep spending all your free time online. I'll let you figure out which one will get you a girlfriend.

EDIT: Getting a different hobby will require you to do something not involving electronics (the thing you have in common with all the people you know online). You'll be lonely (though hopefully also preoccupied) for a while, until you meet other people who are doing the same thing you are, but hell, when you look at it rationally, you're spending all day in your room by yourself anyway. You've got nothing to lose.

Same here. And like someone posted above, Internet just has more entertainment and educational value then TV.

Not on topic, but it's strange how I can instantly recognize Sascha Konietzko even though I haven't paid any thought to KMFDM in years.

Yes, I'm addicted - it's come to the point where in my dreams, I'm dreaming that I'm surfing the net and it wakes me up.

Seriously in my internet prime days I would work 8-10 hours a day on the internet. Then I would go home eat dinner hang out with GF and surf for another 3-4 hours. :o
