    Your machine must suck.

I've done them before as finishers on chest day just to get some blood in there and did them as a rehab movement when my chest was kinda screwy.

My gym sucks, but can't switch until I move. :sigh:

I could probably get a lot higher, as I did the 200lbs today at 10 reps without issue... Just the machine is maxed.

The weight is going to be different for each machine so that doesn't really mean a whole lot.

    Agreed.. machines are setup differently.

i know that...but it sounds good
the machines at my gym don't use pads to rest your forearms on, either. they are the kind that more closely resembles the DB fly motion by using handles that rotate out in front of you.

which prompts me to ask the question (to myself) why not just do DB flyes?

I know I do flat bench db flys on chest/tri day (today).. love that exercise.

Also doing the vert flys.. but not much longer since I can't build on the resistance. I'll get my reps on the 200 to 20 or so and then drop it from routine..

That machne tends to hurt my shoulders way less than doing flys with dumbells, so I definately prefer using it more.

make sure not to keep your arms locked out.. pretend like you're 'hugging a barrel'.. 45* bend to 'em, takes some of the stress off your shoulders

Yea the machines are deffinately set up differently. The machine at my gym goes to 320 and I can max that out a few times. But then again I see some people having trouble with the machine at ~200. But I also see some of the bigger people actually like chaining 45lb plates to the stack. LMAO so i dunno what to make of it.

db flyes have a shitty resistance curve. The point of the exercise where you are getting the most resistance is also the point where you are nearly ripping your shoulder out of the socket. As you move the dumbells up you are getting less and less resistance, near the top it's almost zero.

This is one exercise where cables or machines are superior to free weights.

Yeah I feel like I'm doing nothing in the top 1/3-1/4 of a db flye, even squeezing. I prefer machine if I decide to mix some in. Def "hug the barrel".

I usually try and touch my wrists together on the Pec Deck machine.
