How difficult was the BCMSN?

the switching exam isnt that hard.
I think the routing exam was trickier since most people never have to actually use ISIS or EIGRP, so it's just straight textbook for those.
Which is why I'm a big advocate of taking courses at a community college if they're not too crowded. Lab time is invaluable if you don't get the experience at work, and can't afford to make your own lab at home.
