I made a ghetto one to play with some shots and they turned out surprisingly good IMO.

It consisted of my sketchbook as the base and a page propped up against my monitor for a backdrop and me holding my old lightbox (for hand-drawn animating) above the scene. All while I use my other hand with a remote to take the shot. The lightbox has a nice, clean 5000k white light that worked perfectly.

Anyone have shots of theirs? I'd like to build one now because this was a blast. :)

I have a few more on my Flickr. And yea, they're dusty. I got it off as best I could but the lens, she is very sharp.

Here's how it looks before touching up. You can see the lightbox in the frame up top.

Couple more from today seeing as I was bored. Holy shit is something dirty in my camera. Must be the sensor as I've had the camera for several years now and it's never been cleaned. Lots of spots @ 50mm.

Nice. What is this hand drawn animating light box you speak of?

    I was thinking of this:

    - Standard tabletop base.
    - (1) white shade mounted to support back for a white stage
    - (1) shade painted black & mounted for a black backdrop
    - coroplast/foamboard mounted to brackets for swiveling to show white/black sides
    - clear plexiglass base for the slight reflective surface
    - 5,000k light w/diffuser lexan.

I had one made out of foam board and tissue paper that I liked. It fell apart when I moved though :o
