I got this through a web program (Thrillist.com) that sends me e-mail about cool stuff. Today's message was about Demotix:

Your photo collection may be loaded with cherished memories, from intimate moments with friends, to Polaroids of Kenny G being mauled by wolves, but what the hell's in it for you? A little scratch, thanks to Demotix.

Created by London-based journalists/tech geeks as a venue for "citizen journalism", Demo lets you post images for potential sale to worldwide news outlets (w/ U.S. coming soon), including heavyweights like the Daily Telegraph and Le Monde, known as the flaky crust of France's news croissant. After a two-minute profile setup, you just fill out image details, upload photos, and your pics'll be posted for consumption by prowling outlets, with 50% of any sale coming back to you via PayPal (Demo claims typical sales can reach as high as $3000, which explains why newspapers are broke). While serious pro-photog news coverage abounds, there're enough everyman-attainable shots (wintery cityscapes, event crowd photos, discarded Starbucks cups) of varied resolution to make posting your work seem worthwhile, and prove snaps of your "Rick Allen Arms Race" tat can do more than just warn against mixing Hpnotiq and Tang.

Beyond photos, Demo also lets you upload video content, a true boon when you consider your tape of a certain flailing saxophonist, who employed circular breathing techniques to emit piercing screams for 21 minutes non-stop.

It's like the agent you always wanted for the photos you never wanted going public at Demotix.com

Let me know if any of you guys have tried this or something like it.
