That's one of the reasons I'm getting into better shape... I have genetic high blood pressure, and it was kinda borderline, so I decided to lose some weight and work out a bit. Down to 140-145 from 160 and in much better shape, and that's helped.

Anybody else on here have blood pressure issues? How does it affect your working out? Are there any "metabolism enhancers" that don't have the bp side effects?

My systolic has always been really high. And it seems that whenever it drops to a "normal range" i get massive migraines.

My diastolic was regularly around 90, so they wanted to put me on medication. I decided I'd rather try to shape up a little and see if it helps... and it seems to have worked. Low 80's now, so I'm happy with that.

When I went into the hospital with facial nerve shingles, triage nurse checked me in at 175/125  I was dehydrated, throwing up from the vicodin/percocet I tried to keep down unsuccessfully, nerve pain, etc... pretty rough shape

Yeah, I've cut back on that just as part of watching my diet, and that helps too. Not eating as much fast/prepared food (high salt) has helped as well.

My sodium intake is through the roof thanks to wendy's chili for lunch daily... I imagine mine would drop further if I cut that out too.

Cardio will cut your BP also I believe.

Mine was running 190/125 but that was from taking EPO. Yesterday my bp was 147/79, I'm happy with that. Cod liver oil and an asprin a day will thin your blood a bit and help with the bp. Doing cardio 5x per week has helped my bp also, as well as eating clean.

my family has a history of high blood pressure and high cholesterol

I'm 24 and I just got tested about a month ago.. 110/70 and total cholesterol is like 170. I was scared to get it tested because I ate like shit throughout college and never did any cardio. My HDL count is pretty low, though. I'm doing more cardio exercise to raise it.

a friend of mine got some $40 blood test thing and i tested it...tried it multiple times on my left wrist and got like 135-145/70-80 and tried it once on my right wrist and got something like 115/59...strange, the REALLY weird part is i tried it again on my left wrist immediately after i tried it on my right wrist and got like 166/80-90 or something :hsugh:

is that normal for a 17 year old?

You are not suppose to take multiple readings and you have to hold your hand close to your chest and stay absolutly still.
