I have those 3 91/30s i ordered this winter that have dark bores.
Was talking to someone I work with and I just ordered a few big 45 bore cleaners and a bottle of butch's bore bright along with some more patches, bore swabs, and a jag

remove action from wood, remove bolt, plug the end of the barrel with a cork, stand on end, fill the barrel with brake cleaner or carb cleaner, let stand overnight, dump it out, repeat as necessary.

*first push some patches of brake cleaner through to degrease the bore
*put a cork or rubber stopper in the chamber
*buy a cheap 1/8 or 3/16 steel rod, wipe the grease off and put a few wraps of electrical tape at the far end
*drop it down the bore and find out where to put a couple more wraps to insulate the rod at the crown
*fill bore with 50/50 mix of water & ammonia
*tape together a couple c or d cell batteries
*run a wire from the positive terminal to the trigger guard or rear sight leaf or something like that
*run a wire from the negative terminal to the rod

it'll bubble and fizz, top off with solution, let it go for 30 minutes or so.

pull the rod and wipe clean, push a couple patches, repeat

now I like to go at it with a little jb bore paste scrubbing

at this point i think you have the barrel as clean and shiny as you'll ever get it. odds are it wont get that much shinier but you might gain a little more definition on the rifling
