it looks pretty close to this, excepts the exhaust and air filter are hanging out the sides

some people believe sportbikes are strictly for cornering and rag on lowered stretched bikes

as to why i did it I just wanted more power, and to be different

    everybody has a hayabusa

tons of people have a turbo hayabusa

I wanted to be different, not too many zx9 around, and as far as I know there are maybe a few turbo ones in existence from my searching on the internet

wheel stays fine with the 8 inch arm, at least on the street, don't know about a track surface

it will break traction before it pulls wheel, i got the tire hot one time and it did pull up in second on a smooth road

cool night with cool tires at full pressure it will spin the tire in 3rd at 110 or so, not too bad but you can feel it slip a bit, lower pressure in the rear and it gets decent traction, except in first

If it was just stretched/lowered it would be one thing, but the fact that it's turbo makes it a lot better

i'm wondering when this chain is going to stop stretching, supposed to be a "zero stretch" chain

i let 5 more pounds of air out of the back tire tonight, a little more traction, chain was fine until I romped on it two times, then it was sloppy, had to go tighten it

I'll work on pictures tomorrow in the light, need to change jets again too, raise the needles and adjust the air bleeds.

    I hate carbs now

with that much horsepower will the chain ever stop stretching? you can only ask that poor chain to do so much lol. i don't know how you guys ride sportbikes with turbos on em but i bet it's fun as hell.
i'll stick to my HD so i don't instantly kill myself but wow it's got to be fun

Turbo sport bike can use a stretched swing arm. I still think it's dumb (lol) but cool none the less.

    What's the acceleration times/top speed?

havent been to the track yet, i'm still working the bugs out, but top speed will be gearing limited, around 180 with the stock gears.

quarter mile estimate mid 8s, somewhere around 150-160mph

if you punch weight and horsepower into a formula it says 8 flat with 250whp but you can only get so much traction on a small contact patch

    .

I'm gonna kill myself soon enough on my regular bike... really no need to speed up that process with a turbo :dunno:

Seems like a turbo would slow the process down, with turbo lag and all.

Oh yea, OP, how's the lag? How big a turbo, and how well does it react with the engine? I love fast cars, but my fastest car is a naturally aspirated Neon ACR. With 13:1 compression, feed it alcohol, and it blows a 1/4 mile in 13 seconds. Why turbo it? Same with the bike, unless you wanted a smaller engine for better fuel economy when you kept your wrist off the throttle spring.

I had a 2006 ZX10R with 40 shot of nitrous. Sometimes you just want to go REALLY fast. People who have ridden bikes like this for long enough know that too much speed is never enough.

THAT'S why you turbocharge the bike.

    Well done, OP.

i generally dont talk about it

    4k+ though, i stopped counting

pistons and head gasket were 950 or so

    swingarm was 400

    couple hundred on the clutch

tons of -an fittings and braided hose, fittings get expensive, think the most i paid for 1 was 30 dollars, most are 10-20 dollars, quick count in my head as to numbers of fittings is is around 30+ plus the cost of braided line

cost of stainless and aluminum for manifold and plenum was a few hundred i think
    gauges were a few hundred

    water injection was another couple

    fuel system was another few

I could go on and on

if I added my time and labor in even at minimum wage it would be ridiculous

I don't really want to know what I spent , so I don't add it all together

    its a 14b off a mitsu eclipse

lag, it has some, of course, but it doesnt really matter, bike has a powerband anyway and it comes in hard during the normal powerband, 7k and above its in full swing

highway cruising part throttle at 5k or so, I'm sitting at 1 or 2 pounds of boost

i've been riding it hard and beating on it, 25mpg or so, used to get 28, 40 when i was a pussy and didnt ride hard

Nice work.. I want to turbo a bike, just not sure what yet. Like you, I don't want to do another busa or zx14 etc.. maybe something older. Also like the idea of a supercharged vmax

well, looks like i'm in store for a different clutch setup, its slipping above 160 or so, at least it felt like it, need to ride it again and confirm.

really wanted to avoid having to put a lockup clutch on it, guess i'll have to have one of those built this winter
