This forum is pretty heavily dominated by guys into freeweights and getting big. You might try looking for the strong chick forums where you'll get more advice from women, about women.

I want to try Yoga too just to spice up my routine a bit. They offer it at my gym, but at weird times so I can never go.

A few very fine girls at my work asked me to tryout yoga a few days ago. First day I got 2 numbers. I've tried it out three times now and my flexibility is getting noticably better which is awesome because I do bjj and kickboxing.

It encourages flexibility in places where you don't want it (ie the lower back). And the time spent doing yoga could be spent doing activities that are more productive.

From an article by Mike Boyle:

The lumbar spine is even more interesting. This is clearly a series of joints in need of stability, as
evidenced by all the work in the area of core stability. Strangely enough, the biggest mistake I
believe we have made in training over the last ten years is engaging in an active attempt to
increase the static and active ROM of an area that obviously craves stability. I believe that most if
not all of the many rotary exercises done for the lumbar spine were misdirected. Both Sahrmann
(Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes) and Porterfield and DeRosa
(Mechanical Low Back Pain: Perspectives in Functional Anatomy) indicate that attempting to
increase lumbar spine ROM is not recommended and potentially dangerous. I believe our lack of understanding of thoracic mobility has caused us to try to gain lumbar rotary ROM; this is a huge mistake.

I did it during swimming season, because my coach was also a pansy yoga instructor.

i just got back from doing yoga for the first time with my friend. my friend's wife wants him to go with her and he didn't want to be the only guy there so he asked me to go with him.

here's my report: there were more guys than girls there and the girls weren't that hot. so all in all, waste of time.

Before you guys flame the shit out of me, I'll just say that I tried yoga twice and actually did enjoy it.

I was chatting it up with a friend (girl) at the gym and she sort of dared me to go into her yoga class. So I went in and took it seriously (as promised) and I felt pretty great afterwards. It was not necesarily the most stimulating workout, but I could definitely see myself occasionally doing it to calm down and maybe meet some women afterwards :o

And, yes, I did say I did it twice. The second time I did it because I was supposed to try to bring more guys out to try it. I suppose if they saw a couple guys doing it they might feel comfortable giving it a go.

It's definitely something you should try once just to really determine if you like it or not.

edit: Will I actually go back? I don't know. It probably depends if I see a good looking group of women walking in.

Best "yoga" ever - laying down on the gym floor of our school and listening to a recording of water running. At least my presonal finess teacher titled it "yoga". All I know is that I got a nice 20 mins of sleep out of that.

I've done it a few times, it helps alot with soreness, and at my school, there are quite a few attractive girls, so :dunno:

If it's good enough for Shugart, its good enough for me
