I'll be flying back home next month to visit w/ some family and friends. I'm looking for an indoor range that also handles rentals.

My sister in law has wanted to go shooting for quite sometime. Her husband (LEO) is a complete ass and completely turns into a douche when it comes to guns. He yelled at her and made her very uncomfortable the last time they went out, to the point she started to cry. She wants to learn how to shoot and handle a gun but w/o the help of her husband. So while I'm back east, I'd like to take her to an indoor range. But after living in Ct for roughly 34 years I cant think of any decent gun stores besides the one on the berlin turnpike (Hoffman)
So does anyone here know of any indoor ranges in norther connecticut that also handles rentals and is reasonable?
    Thanks in advance :wavey:

There's one in Bristol (Wolf's) on rt. 229 and there's tactical arms in Torrington on Midgeon Ave. Both are on the expensive side for range time but rent out plenty of stuff. Wolf's would probably be closer to you but most of the guys I've met that work there are the stereotypical gunshop idiots.

I think the rest of us are down south. Bridgeport Shooting Range is a decent indoor/rental place.

I'd second the vote for dropping by S&W up north. Have her ring out a M&P9 or a PPS if she's got tiny hands.

If I had the time I'd take the trip down to bridgeport. Does Colt have anything open to the public? I used to sell them some Mil Spec coatings years ago, but unfortunatly I dont have any contacts there now :(
I wonder if it would be worth the hassle to bring mine..... Hmmm?

    Thanks again everyone!

Hey I'm going to agree with everyone else here. Bridgeport shooting range is excellent. The place in Torrington has a rifle rated backstop. Wolfs was ok to me when I was there. I believe they require a CT permit. Avoid hoffmans range I've heard nothing good about it really. They are expensive also. They actually make you pay for the full hour and have a sign that says 50 min range 10 min paperwork.

I've only been to Bridgeport Shooting range, and it was pretty decent.

I'm still waiting on my permit to go through in order to start shooting at new ranges.

Rent a gun is $25 from S&W and includes ammo. You can buy more ammo for $25 a pop or switch gun.. just buy the ammo. Pretty reasonable.

Thanks again everyone. I think were going to hit S&W and I may even bring my glock (wonder if S&W will mind) hehe
Anyone know what the laws are in CT in regards to transporting guns/ammo?

you must have your Connecticut Pistol Carry Permit to take your handgun outside of your home...legally.

I'm fully aware at how bad Massachusetts is towards guns... But even if it was in a lock box? If connecticut is that bad then the hell with even bringing mine. Grrr
Now I remember why I left Ct. Ya cant do shit!

It truly makes me appreciate getting the hell out of there. I can honestly say there is nothing I miss about that place (besides friends)
