I don't have a mac, but I've been noticing this alot with all of my newer electronics. I've just started putting a piece of electrical tape over any bright lights, at least on stuff thats in my bedroom.

I think you can just unplug the light from the power button

I've also noticed this, also the green glow from the power cord is quite annoying. What can you do though, I just turn it away from my bed.

put the computer to sleep using the apple menu and the led will shine dimmer as long as the screen remains up. Closing the screen causes the LED to fade on and off at full brightness

on a related note, on my macbook, i seem to remember the status light being fully bright when it was awake. now it is dim when awake. I noticed this after doing a clean install of leopard. or maybe it was dim all the time and I just noticed.

Strange. Usually the light should be totally off when in use.

Seems like ever since the blue LED was invented, every electronics manufacturer thought it was necessary to add one to thier product, and make it so brite, you need spf50 for protection from it.

Agreed, I once bought a blue alarm clock (Because I like blue better than green or red) Holly Sh!t it was almost brighter than having my LCD on.
