I'm gonna be going to help out a friend who is gonna be in it. I hope he does well, he has a very good back defense. I am actually getting excited for something I'm not gonna be in . There is gonna be a Gracie Barra's brown vs a brown belt from Dynamic. I am really itching for that one too. I can just imagine the epicness .

That match up is gonna be so sweet to watch. I'm sure they're gonna make it look super easy too.

My buddy got his 2 stripes(white) a few weeks ago, but he is really good in my opinion. He looks for posture before submissions, and never breaks that chain, even when he thinks he does. He has a pretty broad technique base already for only 3 months. His escapes are pretty amazing, I'm 260 and he's usually 170 and he has no problem with the extra weight. He has great stamina and trains thinking that his opponent is in better shape than himself. I respect the hell outta him, he's a good guy, so I hope he does well.

My friend came in third in his division. He went up against a guy who is actually a blue belt, but came in as a white belt :greddy:. He did well, but not as well as I expected him to do. He wasn't going for submissions because he didn't want to risk giving up points if he got swept and mounted. I think he would have done a lot better against the blue belt if he took more risks. I am proud of him, he did well against the others.

It was pretty much a cluster fuck of a tournament. There was suppose to be order in what belt and weight class, but they scraped that right off the bat for sheer chaos. They were also suppose to have 8 mats and only ended up having 6 and only 3 were in use at a time it seemed.

Oh and Eddie Bravo showed up in the middle of fucking no where, I have no idea what he was there for but I was tempted to ask if he wanted to share a spliff with me.

I was pretty dissappointed with how poorly it was run. Like you said, there were only 6 mats instead of 8 and they were almost never being used at the same time. Another shitty thing was that the weigh-ins were RIGHT before your division started, and since I was right on weight I couldn't eat or drink anything all day since you only get one chance to make weight, and if you don't make it then you're automatically DQ'd. Every other tourney I've been to has had day-before weigh-ins or at least day-of, but in the morning.

Anyways, after sitting around for 8 hours my divisions finally came. I didn't place in gi, but got silver in no-gi. By the third round of no-gi I had absolutely no energy left. My last no-gi match was the last one of the day, not including the super fights :greddy:
