I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on whether or not high-performance laptops have shorter lives than maybe a desktop fit for performance or a laptop more mobile tech oriented. Specifically I’m talking about a P4 3.0g, FSB 800 MHz HT, 128 MB ATI R.9600 Pro, SiS 648 Chipset, 200pin SO-DIMM DDR 266/333 1 GB, 120W power supply. Given that “shorter lives” is defined as having hardware problems earlier.

SiS chipset? No thanks. Run as far away as you can get!

Also, if it's 333MHz DDR, then you will not get full performance out of an 800MHz HT chip, which would require Dual-Channel 400MHz DDR.
