I've been doing the stretches before and after running, but they are still so sore and it's hard to walk sometimes, especially in the morning. Any tricks you guys do to make them feel better? I've tried IcyHot, but it doesn't work.

I ice them after I run, but it doesn't seem to be helping.

So will they eventually just stop hurting after they get stronger? Do tendons even get stronger? Seriously, sometimes it's so hard to even walk in the morning. :hs:

heat in the morning should loosen you up a bit

lay face down on your bed with you feet hanging off - write the alphabet with your feet

I don't know if it would help, but if it were me i would be doing stretching with the jump stretch bands.... ankle inversion/eversion stretches, followed by the calf stretch and achilles stretch. Dick Hartzell says he can take a football player with a severe ankle sprain, and after doing traction work with the bands, have him right back on the field.

Are those the bands that they use for the physcial therapy? Wide, rubbery things?

stretch, my soccer coach had me soak it in ice water, then put it in as warm of water as you can stand, it fixed it up pretty quick.

I just bought new shoes which helped tremendously with my shin splints. Now I have the achilles problem...it's like one thing after another.

What kind of soles do you use?

this dr. scholl's type athletic cushioning pad, along with additional gel heel cup/pad things.

the reason my achilles was sore was due to heavy impact from running and jumping from basketball/volleyball.
