good lens as a second lens? other one is a 35mm 1.8
Do you have the money for the 70-200 f2.8?
It's a good lens for the price, apparently. You might wanna wait and see if the VR II version really comes out though.
edit: I'm an idiot, I thought that thread was about the 55-200
Worth every penny
I went from a 70-300 VR to it
and I was like Holy FUCK
Contras is epic, sharpness is legendary, and the build quality is something to write home about when the bombers are on their way.
oh and it is girth approved
Buy a 55-200, use it for a while, learn its limitations, decide if you want a 70-200.
Don't be like everyone in OTAP and think that your first lens needs to be a $2000 piece of pro glass
agreed...it's absolutely worth every penny
but if you're not going to be a serious shooter, and not going to be working in low light conditions then you might be able to get away with a cheaper alternative. I love my 70-200 though and wouldn't give it up for anything.
I use my Vivitar 90mm about a 100x more often than my 55-200mm VR to compliment my 35mm.
I'm not a big fan of my 55-200mm. It does everything acceptably and nothing great.
55-200 is my favorite lens so far. shot a lot of night stuff with it.
sharper than the 18-105 kit. and fuck only $225 is a steal
the 70-300 non VR is a nice cheapy but the 70-300VR is too expensive
then save for tokina 12-24 at $400 as 3rd lens
It served me well. I just sold mine for $175.
you finally joining the big boys club?
I saw a 70-300 on CL locally for like 110, probably not the VR version but I didn't pay much attention to it to notice.
Sort of. I picked up an 80-200....baby steps.
i understand that the $2g lens is badass, but i wouldn't be using it to it's potential as my second lens. i am looking for alternatives tho, so far looking at the 55-200 or a used 18-200. what do you think?
