You know, what I should be getting for bonus/enlistment time, what MOS to stay away from, etc.
I'm going to go to OCS as well, I just don't know what I want to do for my MOS. I just don't want to do anything related to what I'm in college for (human resource development), I'd rather do something different and exciting, something I'll never get to do in my life.
    Help/opinions?

Shoot some people, I bet you'll never get to do that outside of the military. 11B Infantry with Airborne contract, and if you're the type of dude whose bad enough to hit his own dick with a hammer, opt for Option 40, which brings you to RIP (Ranger Indoctrination Program) and then possibly Ranger regiment.

    Slash, Thread. :wavey:

Few know, my man. Few know. Some on this board were in fact, bad enough to endure, while others simply were not. To describe this would be taboo on my part, because I have never faced such a challenge.

RIP is not that bad; do not confuse RIP with Ranger school.

Are you going to OCS now or are you enlisting in the guard while still in college?

What kind of excitement or training are you looking for?

The following MOS' all get $20K - $35k bonus for a 3-6 year contract:
    09L 13D 13R 25Q 88M 92F 94A

    As of 30 October.

edit: just realized you are going Guard. The above may or may not apply to Guard - check with your recruiter.

When our reserve unit was disbanding, one of our sergeants switched to a guard unit. He said that the the guard unit's state will provide money for college in addition to the federal GI Bill. In the Reserves, you get the federal benefits. In the Guard, you get both federal and state benefits.

I'm not sure, really. I'm pretty open. Obviously, I don't want to do something that is going to put me at unnecessary risk

If it weren't necessary the president wouldn't send us. :hsughno:

I suggest you think about what kind of career you want after the military. If you can narrow that down, we can help you figure out what MOS most closely suites your career goals.

Thats just it, though.... I'm not sure I want my career in the military to coincide with my career after the military.

Fair enough. But if you can't at least give a little direction as to what you like or want or what interests you, all you're going to get are what interests me (or anyone else that replies).

Personally, I like my MOS a lot. I get to blow up shit, and I get to stop the bad guys from blowing up my shit. It's a blast, but it also has it's down sides. Combat Engineer - 21B.

Probably the very best job I've ever heard of as far as going all over the world, seeing all kinds of stuff, and staying in some awesome hotels: Air Force Loadmaster.
