Any plans for a US version Holden Commodore? (think 4 door GTO/Monaro)

When in England over the holidays I saw a newish 'Chevrolet Lumina SS'. I immediately recognized it as based on the Holden Commodore but did a double take at the name... It made me wonder if GM might have any plans to release it in North America. It was a pretty good looking car. GTO's aren't selling as hoped, but a sedan has a much larger market. Anyone know if they're even considering it?

Yes, pretty much every GM RWD car starting in 2007/2008 will be a variation of the next Commodore (debuting in 2007).

Buick - Roadmaster and Velite. Chevrolet - Camaro, Caprice, El Camino, Impala, and Monte Carlo. Pontiac - G8 and GTO. Saab - 9-6.

All of these upcoming products will be based on the next generation Holden Commodore.

I say fuck america..........they cant seem to apreciate a good car when they see one. Let them keep their outdated SRA mustang and their pos FWD V6 barges.

All but 11% or so of them were sold by the close of 2004, that's probably pretty close to the industry average of yearly leftovers.

In turn your SRA loves the trees and shrubs when it hits a bump mid corner:):):)

That's awesome, I had no idea... are there any concepts or even drawings out there yet for the new Chevys? It's about time those cars came back as RWD (and hopefully V8 powered :x: ). :big grin:

    Uhhh, right... :ugh2:

Someone might wonder did it had to be Holden to remind GM how important is RWD?

    Lessee,
I do appreciate good cars. I own/have owned 6 Chryslers ((Cordoba V8 RWD, 3 Newports V8 RWD, Fifth Avenue, LHS) OK, so the last two are V6 FWD but they're not POS), 2 Fords (Falcon, LTD -- both V8 RWD), 2 Pontiacs (Safari, Parisienne -- both V8 RWD) and the best one ...
    '65 Imperial Crown Coupe -- V8 RWD

    7 big blocks (all 400 cubes or more), 2 small blocks (305 and 350), and 2 V6s (3.3 and 3.5)

Corvette has been independent rear since '63 :fawk:
