$250 or less. I need a new printer anyways (for documents and shit), but also want this one to be amazing w/ photos.

Any brand preferences, recommendations? How is the 6-ink think w/ Epson?

the new ink set is alot more vibrant than the old ink sets bc of the dye base.

    i have a pixma IP4000.

it has a separate black ink for strictly black and white printing which is nice for 2 reasons.

    1. youre not constantly replacing the tiny CMYK black tank
    2. the printer will print without the color tanks, unlike most that ive delt with.

and it prints borderless 4x6 5x7 and 8x10 very impressively.

    rofl, touche.

however, i was thinking about this more. it seems like its expensive as shit per print w/ those like ~$250 printers, like the 6-cartridge epson's and what not. Plus, I only want one printer cluttering up my room, and I will be printing mostly documents. I think I might just get a shitty laser printer for documents, and do my photo printing at a photo store or something.

get the r1400, it just came out.

It uses the new dye based inks... meaning the colors will be superb.

yes... well all inks fade... dye-based inks produce more vibrant images but don't last as long as their pigment-based counterparts.

r1800 (pigment) inks should last 200 years under album and r1400 (dye) should last 100 under album storage.

That's just for fade resistance. Dunno how long the paper would last or if anyone would even give a shit in a hundred years. Just back up your RAW files. :eek3:
