I've always borrowed a gun from a buddy when I paint things, but I'm looking to buy one of my own. I'd like to use a one gun to do paint and primer, if possible. Can this be done with a variety of tips? not looking to spend a mint as I only paint 1 car every year or so.

So, what manufacturers do you recommend? any specific models for the average guy?

If you have a finishmaster in your town go there, there is a Finex gun with a 1.3 tip, gravity feed, hvlp. Not sure on the model number, but you could use it for your sealer, color, and clear. It was onsale not to long ago for $99.00. For primer they have a Finishline gun that has a 1.5 tip on it, that gun runs around a 100.00. The finex gun has been compared to the iwata spray guns. I own iwatas but have use the finex one and it's a really good overall gun.
