This guy, Joey Lawrence makes me lament my 19 years of life. Hes 18 and he travels the world shooting personal work and ads for big companies/magazine stuff for bands. I hate to admit but this guy is freaking talented.

At this point, that's a possibility, but he did all those things himself before he hit it big. He did work with a lot of smaller bands a while back and his work from the past resembles what he does today. Interview with strobist demonstrates what he knows. :dunno:

Then again, this is OTAP, where the blind hate is expected.

Its not blind hatred. Look at this stuff. Whats great about it? Nothing really..
And I like the bit about how PS cant save a picture but he pays other people to edit his stuff AND every shot has OBVIOUSLY been edited. :ugh:

his DVD tutorial basically shows you how to take a "bad" shot and save it with PS.... he's go talent, I actually like his non processed shots much better than his "band" stuff.... and props to the kid for starting off so young, but I care for his PP work about as much as I do dave hills... :barf:

his DVD is a joke  it's so obvious he just saw someone do it once, and then tried to teach it. Every 2 seconds he's like, "I dont know what this does, but youre supposed to change the blending more to either darken or multiply.. one of the two anyway". "I dont really know what the difference between this and this is.. but this is the one I use". "I have no clue what this one does but I know it helps later.."

It's so so bad. I feel horrible for anyone who actually bought it.

Typical example of people in top positions. It's always the people behind them doing the actual work while he gets the credit.

The final work is pretty fucking good :coold: Fucking awesome if you ask me, whether or not he has assistants and editors for his pictures is irrelevant. Why do so many ppl on OT hate on CLEARY GOOD work. If you faggots were him and got offered mad $ and assistants to help you, none of you would object so stop hating. Its one thing to be honest, but to hate is just gay. Sure the PP is kind of heavy, but the composition and the lighting (whether or not he does it himself) is ON POINT.
Props to him and :ugh: to the losers who hate when their shit isnt 1/10th as good as his stuff probably is unedited.

His Photojournalism-type stuff is really good, great subjects. I add the "-type" because PJ shots should not be edited to look surreal. The shots themselves are fantastic but obviously edited beyond the acceptable levels. I'm jealous for sure, not because of his age or talent, but more because of the opportunities he gets. It's amazing how great subjects/locations generally = great shots. I give him props for sure.

I went to a NatGeo conference and thats what all the photographers who spoke were saying. They said that if you gave them a doorway to work with, they were awful photographers. But, give them the grand canyon and theyll give you something good.

I've always said the same thing. Thats why i envy photographers like Peter Lik who reside in beautiful locations like Australia. If i ever hit the lottery im buying a plane ticket to each and every continent :coold:

What a fucking douche. Anyone who has a website that resizes your browser instantly loses all respect from me :ugh2:

I clicked on his "Commercial Gallery" or whatever and it brought up this giant ass window and I closed it immediately
