I got out of the Marine Corps in September. Four of us all from the same shop got out that year....ive kept in touch with them all...2 of which have been recalled...I for one would be pretty damn pissed if I got recalled.

    Anyone else recalled beforfe?

We had 6 IRRs deploy with us. We just sent them home (they were recalled before us so their deployment ends before us). We were in a briefing while we were in premob and the briefer mentioned how proud he was to see so many IRRs deploying because all they had to do to not deploy was not reply to the letter. All of the IRRs looked at each other with this exact face: :ugh2: :ugh:

Everyone else had the :bowrofl: face!

I got recalled in 2005, Army. Weird thing was they recalled a bunch of us from a single MOS then reclassed everybody :ugh2: 49 total recalled in the bunch, 15 showed up, 1 went AWOL the first night. What Ranger said is true, sometime in 2006 they decided that they wouldn't punish anyone for not showing up because there were so many of them.

It would have been hard to prosecute anyway, the notices are not sent via registered mail or anything so they would have to somehow prove you got the notice. My initial notice came in the form of a Western Union Mailgram in my mailbox then like a week later a bigger packet with all the info showed up.

I did my honorable 4 years. When you are enrolled in school, and bought a house, and live way beyond means of E5 pay, yes, I'm going to bitch.

If you are still within that 8 year window, then you should have been prepared.

If it happens, it is your own damn fault! STFU and enjoy your shit sandwich.

Congrats on getting out and doing so well, but you are still government property until that contract is up :eek3:

no, i'm just trying to have a life unlike a lot of people who eat, sleep, and shit USMC. I did my time, I'm glad I did it and would go back and do it all over...but thats the past. I have other things going for me right now.

I don't like how all of my USMC buddies seem to be brainwashed. It is a good thing you broke the mold. Right now in the Army, it really depends on your rank and MOS if you are going to get stop/loss'd or recalled.

I wish you luck, I really do, but like I said before...a commitment is a commitment, for better or worse.

I didn't mean to come across as a d-bag, but the truth sucks. I am about to get out and I think about getting stuck with more time every day :hsd:

88M's get recalled a lot. And whatever MOS is a mechanic. We got a handful of them when we deployed. They spent a little over a month learning 21B stuff and then joined us in pre-mob at Ft. McCoy. It was funny as all fuck - they kept going around telling anyone that would listen that they weren't really Combat Engineers, hoping to get reassigned to something they they were more familiar with.
