I've got a rough ass windshield on my Element from (what I suspect) is etching from road salt. On top of that, while on a road trip this weekend my wife cleaned the windshield with bad gas station squeegee that wound up leaving light scratches everywhere. I heard the diamondite (sp?) kit is good, but I've never tried myself. Halp.

Any polishing you can do will be very minimal. If the windshield is pitted, the only real solution is to replace it.

You can always give glass polishing a shot. I didn't care for the Diamondite when I tried it; I actually use Zaino's glass polish (one of three Zaino products I use). Z12 works great for me on a polishing pad with the PC....

However as Scottwax said, if the glass is pitted, you're fucked.

Yea, I'm not sure exactly how bad the glass is actually damaged. I can't tell for sure if its just some kind of mineral deposits (like road salt) or what. I also noticed some of the same white spots on the mirror plastics and bumper as well (most of them came out of the paint with a PC and Optimum Compound/Polish).

i'm a huge fan of AutoGlym Car Glass Polish (or the 06B in the bodyshop line). I'm going to be trying it this week on my fiance's camaro before we sell it. I'll post a thread later on it.,
