I went shooting up by my school for the 4th time in my life. Did OK, but definitely have a lot of room for improvement.

I think the shotgun I was using was too long, but maybe thats good for trap shooting :dunno:

Anyway, a pic of the 2 shotguns and the crowded range.

Went trap shooting for the first time two weekends ago and went again this weekend. I am fully addicted to it and LOVE using the Remington 1100 i inherited from my grandpa.

Of course the Winchester factory is 20min away from me and its $10/rd. That $10 includes any shotgun rental and any box of Winchester AA ammo :h5:

I went 2 times last year at school, once in the Dominican Republic and then this time.

Going in the DR was a lot of fun, and I liked the shotgun I was using.

Dont know the name of the shotgun I used there though...guy was telling me about some bird I saw right before I shot.

Is trap shooting just like skeet but firing at a different object?

Same targets as skeet but instead of the two houses throwing clays right to left and left to right they come from one thrower. It's placed farther out in the center of the shooting positions and throws at limited angles away from you.
I don't think that made sense, just wikipedia it.

I've shot some trap, but skeet is way more fun and challenging. If you've got a good group going through the trap, and get into a good rhythm, it can be pretty fun.

I shot a informal match 2 weeks ago. 10 dollar buy in 12 guys ( but can have as many as are willing to buy in ), pot is split between the lodge ( private bar / club ) and the winner. Lodge supplies the electric thrower and trap and a couple of beat up shotguns. You can bring your own ammo ( which I do ) or use the community rounds, everyone usually brings a box or 2 for the community guns and new guys trying it out.

2 positions shooting for hickeys. 3 hickeys and you're out.

If you dont know a hickey is when you shoot a frag of the clay after the person in position one breaks it.

I shoot a Ithica side by side 12 gauge match grade skeet gun. It kicks like a mother fucking mule but its an amazing gun. unfortunalty after 100 rounds my arm/shoulder is pretty much done.

BTW I won the match :p and made 60 dollars minus 25 bucks for ammo and buy in.

I'd much rather do it on private land or a range that just has an open area for your own throwers. The clubs are a little too... snobbish.. for me.

Actually what had happened was I switched from the short barrel to the long barrel and stupidly forgot to put the pad back on the stock, which made it a bit shorter. That was what felt right, I did like 3 shots and realized it hurt like a bitch. Took a look at the hard plastic ring that was against my arm and went wtf... I'm stupid. Like I said, last time that happened.

I shoot Trap (singles/doubles/continental), and tried 5 stand. I yelled pull, something flew towards me and over my head, the went rolling across the ground, I unloaded and went and sat in the truck....

I definitely had more fun shootin skeet than trap but it was also harder, especially with my 870 pump.
