i just found morrowind +expansions in my closet and was thinking about playing it again. i beat the crap out of oblivion (ps3) and realized i never really played morrowind.

any must have mods i need? seems like there are a lot that improve the graphics, but i'm not sure which is the best.

the only pc game i was ever hooked on more was WoW.

for your first run through, yeah just get one of those graphics mods and all the official bethesda ones but nothing else... and go through the main story (caius cosades and the nerevar) before going into the Tribunal expnasion (you can start the expansions whenever you want but the main story line is the best imo). i never finished the werewolf expansion so i cant critique that one.

also the game is very easy to exploit using potions to boost your stats +million but avoid the temptation... and in caldera is a vendor who buys everything and has 5000 gold :)

Played a fucktin of Morrowind back in the day, can't even imagine how many various mods I went through.

From what I recall, magic was pretty weak and didn't have fast travel... so make a mental note of where the transportation people are. Getting almsivi and divine intervention spells early will help you move around quite a bit faster. Mark+Recall spells should be a goal to get early on as well, will save a lot of time running around.

The one thing I remember from running a fair amount of mods was you sometimes had to be careful what order they loaded in, and you'd occasionally have to use an external program to 'join' their level lists (of items and such) to avoid conflicts between them.

I fucking loved Morrowind. I think it was leaps better than Oblivion... It might be weird going from Oblivion to Morrowind though. Morrowind is infinitely funner to run around exploring though.

Oblivion had some really fun aspects (Thieves Guild / DB stuff especially), but the levelling enemies nonsense always bugged me and none of the mods to fix / change that every quite got it right imo :hs:

I used to jump through the wall and steal all kinds of rare shit before I could go to jail.

Then once I actually left the census office I would just go steal everything from the Vivec vaults. Fun times. Oblivion has nothing like this.

Tried playing it again recently and couldnt. I loved the game many years ago but its just really different from oblivion. No fast travel, until your weapons are good they don't hit enemies at all. Idk.

Morrowind was the shit. I've spent more time playing that than any other single player only game. Oblivion was a huge disappointment to me.

Are people seriously complaining about not being able to teleport to whereever they want? How spoiled is that? Morrowind had striders in all the major cities, recall runes, mage ports, speed boosts and flying. I'd take those any day over the ability to magically appear anywhere on the map.

travelling was half the fun, i can remember having to walk to some small ass town and coming across caves, camps, and hidden treasure coves. i loved cave crawling in that game.

this. Fast travel ruined oblivion for me. it was like why bother with brigands or random caves and what not? lets just fast travel here, there, and everywhere! :ugh:

I actually liked fast travel. Problem is oblivion should have MADE you walk place to place and discover those places before you can fast travel to them.

This. Loved the fast travel in Fallout 3. Oblivion it ruined it. Half the fun in Morrowind was getting side tracked a million times on your way to your mission. I also liked the fact it didn't spoon feed you the mission locations. They actually would be like - go to where the lava flows. Turn left at the big boulder. Instead of a big ass arrow that says - go here you illiterate moron.
