made a thread a little while back. I dunno I certainly am not a fan of JRPGS but this one caught my attention cause of guns. I've played maybe 7 hours thus far and it's pretty fun. The story isn't superb, kind of puts you in the middle of things and expects you to know what's up, maybe it will explain further as I progress.

The battle system is a little tough to get used to, but rewarding when you do. It's not very conventional in that you choose a direction for a character to go and then try to deliver as much damage as possible before the "timer" runs out. But if you don't do enough damage with each turn you'll run out of gems and go to critical mode where you're basically fucked. Overall I'd say I'm enjoying it thus far. Kind of dissapointed with the upgrade system though, in that you don't really get to upgrade your weapon type as much as the accessories for your weapon.

and the world map is based on power hexes where you have to unlock paths by gaining hex blocks during combat.

couple hours in, middle of chapter 1. liking it a bit so far voices are pretty well done and the character design is decent to good. the character banter is entertaining. battle system is still somewhat confusing as I haven't worked out all the kinks yet. there's quite a lot to keep track of and I still haven't figured out how the life bar completely works. it is pretty involved in that you can use terrain to your advantage and having your guys end up in the right spot can be the difference between winning and losing in a single round.

one thing that keeps catching me is I'm running out of crystals on the bosses and going into critical condition. At that point you're pretty much fucked so it seems you have to sit there and take pot shots for the long matches.

music is good, nothing really catchy but it's nice. One thing that might turn me off is that I'm not a fan of heavy grinding games. opinion seems to be split on this where some people say you need to grind while others say with proper strategy its unnecessary.
