I have a bunch of friends that are. I just watch them on TV ... mostly the prostock guys though, the others are just jokes now.

I actually do. I go to the Strip in Vegas all the time, I race with my buddies and watch it as much as I can. I'm not an NHRA racer though. Top fuel and funny car is a joke, it's not racing.

what do you mean its not racing?

its almost the only form of heads up racing they have

and you cant tell me that having 16 cars that are all within .1 second of each other isnt a close race where anything can happen

none of that stupid 100hp civic beating a 750hp drag car bullshit

Because all the NHRA has done for the past 25 years is figure out how to make cars go more slowly.

I'm cool with the ladder setup and all, it works well for prostock. The top fuel dragsters and funny cars is more what I'm talking about. They need to do something with them, 1000 ft now?! Gay. The motorcycle class is OK too. I like door cars, the PSCA east vs west shootout was awesome. No two cars were a like, they didn't HAVE to look like each other and they all had different setups. They were competitive and were true heads up.

TF and FC have gotten a lot better than they used to. It used to be almost a guaranteed one car will break or smoke/tire shake.

Pro Mods are always going to be my favorite, those guys are nuts and they are bad ass

Comp Eliminator or a Quick 16 are my favorite Bracket racing type class. None of that bullshit delay box or throttle stop :ugh:

yeah, but look at the reasons they have used 1000ft

i understand your disappointment with it, but it makes the racing so much better.. most of the cars would blow up after the 1000' line anyways

its way safer, less explosions, more time to stop so you dont smash into a pole and kill yourself, etc.

    what?

cars 25 years ago wernt nearly as fast as they are today, especially with the tremendous amount of new technology

:werd: its exciting to see a guy with a tunnel ram running gasoline race someone running alcohol and a blower, instead of everything being the exact same

and i agree, the delay boxes and throttle stops take the racing out of racing.. they had some special event and there was an 8.90 class and a 9.90 class, and every fucking car either ran 8.90 or 9.90, it was so gay seeing 100 cars in a row take off full throttle, slow down for 5 seconds, then full throttle again :ugh2:

Which is why Comp Eliminator or Quick 16 are my favorite classes.

Comp Eliminator guys are absolute nuts though, mid 6 second Bracket Racing is SO FTW! Quick 16 is what our old dragster used to run it. It was obviously the quickest 16 cars that run, Pro 0.400 Tree in bracket racing is SO awesome, no delay box shit there

There are other ways to 'slow' them down that would have made them safer then before. It would have cost money to the teams so they went the easy way.

I goto the bracket nationals in Vegas each year and this is pretty much what the pro and super pro classes are. It gets boring really quick.

It seems to be just about how every Pro/Super Pro class is.

Having grown up around bracket racing dragsters that were 6.7s to 7.5s, seeing them running 8.3s and slower is just absolutely pathetic. The things weigh nothing and are coasting half the track. HOW can that be fun to drive? Lets go down the drag strip and put cruise control on half the track, SO exciting :ugh: Definitely two inventions the inventors need to be shot for creating.

I missed a lot of this thread... I've been over on yellowbullet.com following alot of the door slammer cars. We're currently working on one now for a customer that should be a low 6.9*-7.0* car at over 200mph on a 295 tire.

Bracket racing does get boring but you know what is even more boring, working on your car CONSTANTLY. I bracket raced for the first time last year in Super Street and had a blast. Sure, I'm one of the slowest cars in the field (10.90 @ 131; most are going 10.90 @ 140-145) but you have to start some where. What's wrong with a Super Gas car that goes 9.90 @ 171mph? That isn't impressive?!

One of our sponsored shop cars shattered the Comp AA/AT record last year and it was fun to be apart of that but your working on the car after every single pass.

It might be 'gay' to watch but when your the one behind the wheel, its a lot more fun then it looks. Plus, if you win a national event 12k+ payout... can't be that (even with the economy the way it is now).

The east coast definitely has the upper hand with different classes. Being up here in Washington State doesn't leave you with much.

Are there any yellowbullet members on OT?

I have an acct there and browse from time to time. Never posted, I don't have shit to contribute.

I had helped Monte setup some of the anti spam stuff way back in the day. I know a bunch of those guys from NastyZ28 before they left and joined there. :big grin:
