I'm a photographer and for me, manipulating images in Photoshop, a matte screen is a MUST. Pretty much no compromising on that.

Looking desperately for a previous generation 15" MBP.

Problem is, it seems used ones on Craigslist and Ebay are the only places they're available.

Ideally, I'd want a brand new (maybe refurbished) laptop coz I want the extended Apple Warranty.

    Know of any place?

    HELP! :sadwavey: Seriously.

Why? So once you touch the display it'll permanently scratch it? That 'glare' is from the protective cover that keeps it from getting all fucked up.

You can spit-shine that shit. Try doing that to a screen without the protective cover... You'll NEVER get those little scratches out!

the new screens are very nice.

the 17" have a matte finish, if you are deep in to the photo editing why not just go for the 17"? You would have more space to work and more power under the hood to work with. Besides, the new MBP look awesome!

If you're serious about your craft as I am about photography, you will realize what your needs are and will be willing to sacrifice the small conveniences like a protective cover on the screen to maintain image integrity.

Of course, if you're using your computer for watching movies or gaming, I can see why you wouldn't care.

How long have you had it? Is it still eligible for extended AppleCare Warranty? Condition of your computer?

Considering it. However 17" is not very portable.

40 months old (really?? has it been that long?) so it's no longer eligible for applecare.

Condition is pretty fair, it's got a little dent near the power connector, but overall it still runs strong. might wanna replace t he battery as it's pretty old, but i'm never not around a wall socket so it's no big deal to me.

If you want pics i'll snap a few for you.

matte is better for bright/sun lit environments, and for color correction
glossy is better for general use in a somewhat dark room also looks better for watching movies, has a more vibrant but darker appearance

Well, for me, there is no choice but the matte screen. My application centers around Photoshop and sometimes I need to view images out in the field when shooting.

This is the only time I'd ever care if the screen is matte. Otherwise, when I'm using internet, word processing or watching a DVD, glossy is more than adequate.

The question for you is, what do you use your laptop for?
