Any Impala SS (94-96) people on the board?

Anybody familiar with these big cars? Exactly how easy, (or hard) is it to make one of those cars perform? What is the average cost / performance ratio?

You know how on F-Bodys 2 grand will put you into the low 12's... well, what's the norm with the Impala?

What would it take? 3:73's? Spray? Bolt -ons? etc etc.

2k into an Impala will get you into the 13's. Bascially the Impala is 1 second slower in the 1/4 than a f-body.

I ran 12's in my SS a few years back with:
    150 shot
    3.73
    Converter shift kit
    Headers, exhuast intake, etc.
    Drag radials
    Tuning, etc.

I think I have done six 6-speed swaps so far as well.

The problem is that they are too heavy

You are gonna need bigger gears then 3.73's if you have a 2K budget

You should look into cams, full exhaust, gears and some sticky tires

I would start with the suspension first.

Having modified the hell out of both the b-bodies I've own I've concluded if I want to go fast, the last car I'm going to pick in the future will be an ImpalaSS.

However I am thinking of sticking in some nasty big block for shits n giggles.

Anything bigger than 3.73 with an auto and you will be hating life on the freeway. But of course you can always t-56 the car and go with 4.88's or even 5.13's :eek3:

If you are looking for a drag car. New lower and upper rear control arms. Take off the front sway bar, stock 9c1 front springs and some really low rear springs. :wiggle:

How much nitrous do you think you could plumb into a stock Lt1?

Aren't those engines very nitrous friendly?

I'd just like to stiffen it up a bit.
Make a little better handler out of it.

Suspension and some better tires. The stock 255-55-17's are shit.

150hp all day if everything is done and tuned right. You could do 200hp but you are on borrowed time.
