I am shooting a baptism next weekend and have been told that the church is very strict on "no flash"... I know the church and its not very well lit.
Is there a way to compensate or am I just screwed?

Faster the lens, the better, but you won't get much DOF if you're shooting wide open.

They mentioned no flash, but they didn't say anything about fill lights & a couple halogens from Home Depot.

If you just set up a couple of speedlights on stands with PWs i doubt it would be obtrusive. now if you were down in front with on camera flash shooting like a paparazzi i could see the concern. maybe shoot with some longer glass so you dont get between the audience and the "action."

i think the point of no flash is because after a while it's going to damage paintings or other artwork withing the church.

Some light reflectors. Big ass ones. Prolly 180* around the baptism, just reflect more light onto it

My wife had to go to a baptism class (she is the babies Godmother) and they must have mentioned it 4 times. She said they were very anal about it.

This is the same church we were married in. I remember them being very strict with our photographer.
