LA Fitness wants $150 registration fees. I think that is ridiculous on top of $45/month.
I got hooked the fuck up at 24hr... got some promo where they charged me $450 for the first 3 years up front, and $29/yr after that.
Yea but 24 hrs gym is so small and lack of free weight equipments. There's one here that charge less than $200 for a year.
Not every LA Fitness charges the same registration fee. The $45/month is for all their locations, it's cheaper if you just choose one.
Maybe the ones out there suck? They're pretty solid here in SoCal, plenty of freeweights in the weight room...
my gym was 80 reg fee then 34 a mo
been to 2 different gyms in OKC and I've never heard of a registration fee
No reg fees here either.
got fees waived at 24 hr fitness $29 a month
at the 24 hr i go to
they don't lack in freeweights with the exception of only 1 squat rack, but since so few people squat at 24 hr fitness it's usually open anyway
worst thing about 24hr fitness = shitty fucking music
i have a deal with la fitness in the ATL area to use all facilities, $0 registration, and $35/month through my company.
i've never paid a registration free at golds gym
$45 a month? I paid $30 when I was a member a year ago...
you def. can get out of the registration fee. At the very least you can probably get it reduced by half.
My gym wanted $200 on top of the $90/month. I told them to fucking shove it.
Then they knocked the $200 off.
Truth is, they were running a special that month.
But perhaps a better business class would teach him how and why you can get out of it.
I got mine waived.
Pretty simple. The marginal cost for a gym membership is next to nothing for them. As long as you remind them that and how there's so-and-so other gym in the area they can buckle.
Here's how mine went down.
I'm on break from college and a friend recommended this gym. I really like the facility, but I was pretty satisfied at the YMCA where I paid $45/mo with no registration fee. I know the trainers there and am tempted to go back, but I came to see WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR ME.
HERE IS THE ABSOLUTE FUCKING KEY (and remember this for future negotiation). If you subtly challenge someone to show what type of authority or power they have, they will almost always give you a "deal" because "that's what power they have". If you say "can you waive my registration" then it won't work as well. You have to presuppose to them that they have that authority.
him: "Well we usually charge blah blah with a registration fee of blah blah but let me see here--" I cut him off
me: "I imagine given the financial nature of gym memberships that you have a certain authority."
You don't mention the word "deal" or "money" or "price" or anything that reminds him that you are trying to haggle. He's gotta think he's the man.
I got LA Fitness here to drop the reg fee to $100 and I pay $35/month for all locations.
some broly hooked me up with a coupon to wave the $150 joining fee...i just pay $20/month
At my old gym, i straight up asked to waive the fee, and they did.
I got out of my $75 fee, but they don't seem to do it any more (fitness first). I've seen them lower it to $50 sometimes or give a free month, but that's all.
Since I was a student going to Golds, I got $0 reg fees, $0 proc fees, and $39 a month... I had to pay for first and last month up front, cancel any time. It's great.
no one will beat me! haha. yay scripts hospital employee & 2nd one on the plan
$50 registration, $7.00 a month and any 24 in the nation! w00t.
Who would you complain false advertising to?
I got a 3 year worldwide VIP membership to Golds for $526.
I just kept saying no thats too expensive until he lowered the price.
the advertised price for that is supposed to be around $750 normally but I said no so many times that he gave me my 3rd year for free and waived the sign up fees. I also told him I was going to go check out 24hour fitness as well that day. So he really wanted me to buy one there and even let me call 24hour from golds and talk to them about pricing so I didn't have to drive over there.
i just told them i will go to whatever gym is closer cuz they offered me a better deal. then i walked out and of course the next day they called me
i would get the #'s from a gym, and then see another gym, and then have them "battle it out" for you. works quite well for other shit like cars too.
