Saving Private Ryan was mentioned, just wanted to reiterate that, along with the Band of Brothers miniseries, both are fucking masterpieces.

Some good Vietnam movies: Platoon, Full Metal Jacket

Modern warfare: Blackhawk Down , Generation Kill

    Das Boot.

Even better as a mini-series though.

And Inglorious Bastards looks like it will be pretty cool. Tarantino does WWII.

This quote encompasses how I feel. Also, look out for the second installment of the Band of Brothers series that Spielberg is working on now, it's called "The Pacific" check out the trailer via Google.

I agree. Saving Private Ryan is the only movie that makes me cry every time I see it.

If you're up for a documentary, PBS ran "The War". It was so good, I bought it on DVD for my dad who's a big WWII buff.
