Anyone know any cool anime? I'm not a diehard fan or anything, but does anyone know any good movies that would appeal to a guy who generally watches North American movies? I like good action and drawings, but I hate cheesy Japanese plots and the sappy love stories they throw in.

I've watched the Fatal Fury movies, and I liked those, but I didn't like Appleseed. I've also watched all of Robotech: the New Generation.
    I hated Guyver.

OK, how about I reword this. I'm fairly new to anime and don't know too much about it. Is there a site that rates the best anime DVDs out there? Something like an IMDB for anime movies?

I'd just really like to watch the good ones, without having to sit through some of the really terrible ones.

heard ninja scroll was badass, akira i heard you should read the mangas instead...

akira only covers 2 of the 6 volumes of the manga, regardless... its a really beutifully done movie

Ergo Proxy for non-conventional anime elements.

Yu Yu Hakusho is very enjoyable. Beginning is decent, but it gets much much better later on. Barely any fillers, and each episode seems to get better and better. Fight scenes are fun to watch.

Eureka 7 is another good one, but you may find that a bit too cheesy.

    Other mentions
Death note (Season 1, you can ignore season 2)
    Seirei no Moribito
    12 kingdoms
