Installing a router on my system boosts my net d/l speed 15x!!!
How can this be?
6mb connection via Comcast Cable, before router
Same connection, after router
Only thing that changed with my system between those tests is the addition of the router, everything else stayed the same.
you probably just have a weird router or something that is messing up the speed test
try this: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
1734 is too low for 6mbit, but 30792 is way too high. maybe you're using a busted cable or something?
I'm on fiber and your download speed is showing just as fast as mine.
Download Speed: 29804 kbps (3725.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 31295 kbps (3911.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
LOL. Can I get more credit than that? My downloads are noticeably faster now with the router than before without it. Example, a 85mb file that used to take me 10-20 minutes to d/l now takes me a little over a minute. That's not a weird router messing up numbers on a speed test, that's a decisively faster d/l speed.
I've tried 3 different speed tests to ensure/confirm my results, I've already posted the first one, here's the other two.
Considering i'm paying for 6mb down and 1 up, I think it's pretty damn good
Yeah, but your upload speed is insane!!
that's weird. I only know of one cable company that usually delivers MORE than they promise.. Optimum Online.
But if I take the router out of the equation then I get way below what I pay for, with the exception of upload speed.
