it looks perfect for what i intend to do with a camera. according to eopinions.com some people have had image quality issues especially with the top-right of the photograph. does anyone here have any experience with this camera? i'm looking for something that will take great quality pictures and able to record about 60 mins of video so i can compile "year-in-review" dvds of events me and my friends participate in. would a camcorder be more efficient here instead? :hs:

i've heard its one of the best all-around cameras you can get right now. it's a little big but if you aren't looking for a pocket camera, there you go.

For 60 min of videos, stick with a camcorder.

Read the original post. He wants to compile a total of 60 minutes. That's a lot of fucking videos for a digital camera. For that much time, it's worth investing in a camcorder.

shit, did he edit his original post? I honestly don't remember seeing that.

yeah, if you're looking to do mostly video, get a true camcorder.

    no editing.

i'm stuck because my current digicam isn't that great for anything other than quick shots, the zoom sucks. it's guesswork mostly with how the pictures will develop. lots of blur despite using a trekking pole for a tripod. it's probably user error, but my 4 year old olympus performed better. i want the best of both worlds and it looks like it's unlikely. i didn't want to buy 2 seperate cameras, but it's probably what i'll have to do.

No friends that will let you borrow one or the other? I do mostly still photography so I invested more in the SLR than camcorder, which I use sparingly. I use you record my races inside car with the camcorder strapped to the rollbar. I got an inexpensive ~ $300 camcorder since I wasn't too worried about all the features and stuff. I'm sure you can find one or the other to borrow. If you're looking to invest in something for yourself, determine what you would use the most and go for that one.

if you want the best of both worlds, look for a camera that does:

    -video limited by card size
    -30fps or better
    -at least 640x480 resolution

My Sony P100 is at least those and it takes good video when needed.

    S2 IS does that.
It also has a 12x optical zoom, image stabilised lens.

The one with the berries is noisy as hell, I know. The mountains aren't quite so bad. And I don't see much noise in the other 2. :dunno:

Noise shouldn't be as big of an issue as a lot of you guys make it out to be.
