Any of you guys have the CZ-97? Opinions about it?
I have a CZ-97b that I bought back in 2001 or so. I have barely used it. Mine has the flat back finish (I forgot what CZ calls it) and the wooden grips. The few times I have fired this gun, I have been very happy. It is very accurate. More accurate than me, that's for sure. Be aware though, this is a man sized pistol.
I'll try to get pics of it tonight when I get home.
Ask Judas... er, I mean Ivy Mike... he'll tell you how to have sex with it.
Well, the major problem for me with most pistols is that the grips are to small. hell, even a G19 I don't like because of that.
bump for teh night krew
Sorry for the delay. Here are pics of my CZ-97b. First time I have had this gun out in a while. I had forgotten how seriously big this thing really is. Makes my other fullsizers feel like compacts.
pics of it next to a 1911 of something for size?
I have a cz83 in .380acp that I love to shoot.. so much fun.
well, from what I have heard, basically any gun that hangs up on JHP can have that fixed by polishing the feed ramp. Also, this would be a target/IDPA/3 gun pistol anyway, so I don't really need it to feed JHPs.
Dunno what it is about the 97, but the clean, un adorned look I really like
You set on going .45?
If I "had" to buy another gun for IDPA, I'd shoot 9mm out of a SP-01. I don't know why I don't have one yet. It's a bad ass gun. But yeah, that full length dust cover looks awesome and the inverted slide design is pretty trick.
yup, I am set on a .45 for my first handgun. I don't like 9mm or .40SW. Not because of ballistics or anything, but just the way they shoot. ex: XD9 vs. XD45, I LOVED the .45, but hated the 9mm. I would go with a nice 1911, but those are expensive for the higher end ones
looks like a baby eagle. But bigger.
I read a lot about them when I was deciding on a getting a dedicated "game gun" for USPSA. They're great guns by all accounts. I ended up deciding on another Glock though, just because I'm a cheap fuck and mags, parts & smiths for Glocks are cheap and numerous... and not so much for the CZ, although the pistol itself is very reasonable.
I can't stand Glocks though
Granted, I haven't fired my 97b much, but the times I have, the gun has proven to be extremely accurate, and 100% reliable.
A lot of people can't. I wasn't so much recommending Glock, as just pointing out what I thought were the disadvantages of the CZ.
Actually IMI patterned the Desert Eagle design from CZ.
CZ is HUGE overseas. It's the 1911 of guns over in asia and through out europe. It's been in competition and is amongst the most winningest gun patterns in their competitive curcuit.
I've got my eye on a EAA Witness Limited in .40. That's a nice game gun, best thing next to a S_I gun.
My friend just got one and he's kicking ass with it. It's in the $1600 range modified with 4 magazines. And the case it comes with is a pretty trick Aluminum case that's lined in red Velvet.
holy fuck that is teh sex.
I really want one of these now. Anyone have a link I can read up about them even more?
Here you go...
They're getting harder and harder to come by because they are imorted exclusively from Italy.
I got to shoot and handle this gun last week. The slide play is absolutely unreal. Unlike most guns, the slide design is inverted, meaning rather than have the rails on the inside of the slide, the dust cover goes over the slide. The fit and finish was truly impressive and is very accurate. My buddy won Steel plates with it the following week.
The holes you see on the side are to mount a laser dot for Open competition. I love the squared trigger housing, this gun is pretty bad ass.
neither are available in CA
For a while I considered buying the CZ -75 SA due to positive things I have heard regarding the SAO trigger. I still may get one. We'll see....
I have fired several Tactical Sports in .40. The trigger they are capable of are absolutely unreal. To "me" they rival 1911 triggers.
Why aren't they available in California? Can't you order one and have it FFL'd?
It isn't on the "safe handgun" list, and I don't feel like converting it to .22short single shot out of state ahead of time.
Have someone in Nevada or Arizona buy it then do a FTF
eh, I would rather just start with a regular 97B. I probably eventually will figure out a way to get the awesome stuff, but for now I just need a gun to shoot
