A friend of mine wants me to shoot a club event sometime in the next few weeks--just wondering what I should be prepared for.

As for equipment, what do you guys usually have with you for each event?

The worst possible lighting conditions to shoot in. I don't have much advice, but I know shooting in a club would be quite a challenge.

I'm going to pick up an SB-600 sometime within the next week. I could borrow my friend's, but I figure I'm doing myself a favor if I just get it myself. :hs:

just set the camera up manually how you want it. maybe start off at something like 80 f4 or so and work from there. throw a diffuser on the sb600, aim it at about 45 degrees and start having some fun.

    Awesome advice. :coold:

Will I be okay with my 35mm f/2D? I don't want to bring the 17-50 f/2.8 there. :hs:

bring both. you'll probably want to use the wider lens, though.

i have my contacts in today :eek4:

but really, go and buy a flash powerpack for one event? :gtfo:

  17. He doesn't have to buy one, he can always rent one. Guess you've never used a powerpack

:ugh: Don't knock it till you try it and know what the purpose of it is. Do some research lil buddy.

And no bringing extra batteries won't help vs using a battery pack  You clearly don't know the purpose of using a power pack for your flash :bigthumb:

If I rent one, got any suggestions, or are they all a pretty safe bet?

  21. I like quantum :dunno:

Make sure it comes with the flash connecting cable if you do rent one though, without that the battery will be pointless. Most packs are a little bulky but at least you won't have to worry and wonder if your flash is going to fire and won't have to wait for it to recycle.
