 to the greatest science fiction ever written. I just finished watching the five seasons of the original series.. and it is truely amazing.

I suggest to the people who haven't seen it to give it a try. Start out by watching the the first babylon 5 movie "The beginning" it gives a main idea of the story.

I know people are going to say "but the shows graphics are bad, yadda yadda yadda". Sure its an old show, but definately one of the best shows to ever air.

Star Trek has NOTHING on B5. Better plot, better acting, better character devolopment, better battles

. There is never any holes in the plot. There are things from season 1 that they come back to finish up in season 5.

So any other fans around here :) ?

I'm not yet, but from what I understand I will be soon. I'm going to borrow my friend's B5 and Farscape DVDs. He seems to think I'll love them both. :x:

Possibly the only television show ever to know that it would end in 5 years.

    J. Michael Straczynski was a genius writing a 5 year story arc and making it happen.

Jumping into the show in the 3rd season was pretty much impossible.

And for any gamers, here's a website to a free game where fly a Starfury for some missions with some pretty good story too: http://ifh.firstones.com/

babylon 5 rocked ass, but i even liked farscape better. babylon 5 is more of a star trek type show (but better), whereas farscape is... something different. farscape does a good job of mixing drama, serious sci-fi, comedy, and interesting characters. babylon 5 is a proverbial orange to the apple of farscape: 2 different types of shows. one of the biggest differences is cast size. farscape: small cast. babylon 5: gigantic cast.

It's one of those shows you need to see them all.. Its one long story line for most parts, and missing even a single episode and you might be lost.

Without spoiling, is it as cool as the Dominion War?

believe it or not, it's a larger scale than the dominion wars turned out to be. where the dominion wars were epic, the babylon 5 shadow war plot is even more complex and full of political intrigue... and shit blowing up. also, it ends up being more than just "bad guys vs good guys" like a traditional war (alliance vs. dominion forces). Think of the dominion war with the two sides, plus another side in the middle that doesnt know what the hell is going on, another side that's out to get that group, etc. it's somehow simultaneously more trivial than a regular war and much grander than that. it's really amazing how simple it all turns out to be, but how tremendous the repercussions are.

    Vorlons = teh roxxor

Yep, that show had one hell of a plot-arc, unlike some other shows that just a bunch of random bs "adventures". Not that they're anything wrong with that, but B5 had an actual STORY ..with mad space battles. It was about secrets of the univers, meaning of life, politics, wars, conquest, persecution, rogue factions, and the lives in between. Just about as "deep" as you could want from a tv show. I need to see about downloading all the seasons and watch them again.

I've read some of the books. The PSI corps trilogy was good (was that the ones you ment?)

Loved this show. Came in the second season, so when I watched the first in reruns it was a little odd... but damn, I love good storytelling, & this is it.

Ya going back and watching season one but be kinda different, but Babylon 4 mini-story. Not knowing who Sinclair was might throw you off a bit.

I don't know its its the trilogy or not. the Book has to do with Garabladi getting his revenge with Bester.i believe.

hummm... Now I'm trying to remember, it's been a while :o

The series I am thinking of started out when PSI powers first appeared, then when the corps formed, then ends with Vesper dying I think... I'll have to go find those books & re-read them to be sure. :mamoru:

    "Is... is that ship changing?"
    "I think it's alive..."
"What the hell is going on here...?"

And good lord, when you finally get to see a Vorlon in all its glory (fury), it just makes you wonder how the shadows ever stood a chance.

has anyone watched the movies? I've seen a few so far, but they don't seem to be near as well as the series was IMO.

I still haven't watched any B5 yet. Farscape really drained me. I'll be checking it out soon though.
